The Weimaraner Club of Great Britain was founded in 1953, the first club devoted to the Weimaraner in the UK. The inaugural meeting of the Club was held at Crufts on Gundog Day in 1953, organised by Major Bob Petty. He gathered the required number of founder members and the formation of the Club was approved by the Kennel Club in November 1953.
